Placecube has entered into a ‘strategic cooperation’ with LCSI in Germany. LCSI supports public sector clients in formulating their digitization strategy and implementing digital transformation across Germany.

Placecube’s Digital Place for Communities and Open Place Directory products will be made available to LCSI’s client base and will play a key role in their services and operations. Gregor Lietz, Managing Director of LCSI explains, "With Placecube Digital Place for Communities, we can provide the administration with an urgently needed and field-tested product for the formation of digital communities.”

Knowledge management and cross-organisational collaboration play an important role in the implementation of digitization in public administration. Without them, a successful implementation of end-to-end digitization processes in complex and often cross-level structures of the Public Sector cannot succeed. Not least due to the widespread hybrid working models in administrations, the need for communication and information exchange between the employees of the authorities is continuously increasing. The same applies to the increased need for communication and information between administrations and citizens when using online services.

Jason Fahy, Chief Executive Officer explains,

“With ‘Digital Place for Communities’ and the ‘Open Place Directory’, we provide innovative and field-tested solutions for both subject areas. The two community products provide extensive functionality for the formation and management of professional and regional communities and, among other things, form the basis for the community network of the UK public sector, known as ‘Knowledge Hub’, in which more than 100,000 users are currently organised. The solution, developed on Liferay technology, has a modular structure and, with over 30 modules, known as cubes, provides a modular system for building an internal or cross-organizational knowledge community.

The Liferay platform is widely used in the German municipal environment. As the basis for solutions such as ‘OpenR@thaus’ in Lower Saxony or ‘Administration Portal’ in North Rhine-Westphalia, this platform is used in the implementation of online services in many local government entities.

With Digital Place for Communities and the Open Place Directory, the functionality of existing portals can be extended and significantly improved through community building for internal and external user groups. For the target group of citizens and the economy, the focus is on e-participation and improving dialogue with administration and politics. For the target group of administrative staff, the focus is on the exchange of information and knowledge within their own organisation as well as with other public administration organizations. To this end, the platform provides numerous functions for the formation of groups and networks, the organisation and moderation of discussion forums, the management of documents and information, and the streaming of contextual news.

Jason Fahy, Chief Executive Officer at Placecube concluded,

“We’re delighted to be partnering with LCSI to bring our products to the German public sector and complement the transformational services already offered by the LCSI team”.
