Dorset Council has selected Placecube to provide it with, Digital Place, an open digital platform designed to simplify how councils make and re-use local services online.

Dorset Council sought a new Digital Platform as a key enabler for the customer workstream in the transformation programme, in addition it will support contract convergence and application rationalisation. All of which will improve the customer experience and release savings.

Lisa Trickey, Service Manager for Digital Strategy & Design at Dorset Council, said: “We’re really excited to have Placecube working with us. It’s a new approach for Dorset that will develop over time, but one that will lay the foundations for us to become a modern council. It will help us move away from silo systems, duplicate customer records and reduce the amount of manual intervention and paper we use. It will allow us to fulfil the commitments to open source development and re-use with other councils that we made when we co-signed the Local Digital Declaration. It will allow us to build services faster giving us the ability to be flexible in a world where the pace of change is only increasing. Most importantly, we’ll be able to provide people with the services they need, when they need it and in a way that suits them.”

Jason Fahy, Placecube Chief Executive, commented: “We’re delighted to support Dorset with their plans to transform how services are delivered to their customers. We’re excited to bring immediate benefits to the council by reusing work that has been co-developed with other local authorities. Our platform is shaping and being shaped by how the public sector digitally deliver their services to benefit their ‘place’.”
